Summary
As of December 18, 2024, Glide’s legacy free plans will no longer sync with external data sources such as Google Sheets, Airtable, and Excel. While existing apps will continue to function, new data changes will not be synced between services anymore.
Why the Change?
A year ago, Glide introduced new free plans designed to better align with our business requirements and the costs of delivering our platform to users. These plans focus on providing sustainable access to Glide’s features while ensuring the quality of service for all users.
As a courtesy to our legacy users, we allowed continued access to features from older free plans, including syncing with external data sources. This grandfathering was our way of showing appreciation for your early support.
However, maintaining this capability for free plans has become increasingly challenging. Syncing external data sources places a significant strain on our systems, and as a growing business, we must make adjustments to ensure we can serve all customers effectively. While we value providing generous free access to Glide, we’re unable to support unlimited resources without cost.
What Does This Mean for You?
Apps will still work: Your apps will continue to function with the data currently stored in Glide.
No new syncs: Changes made in Google Sheets, Airtable, or Excel will no longer sync to your Glide apps, and vice versa.
Upgraded free plan: Even with this change, your legacy free plan has benefits the current free plans don't offer.
How Can I Continue Syncing External Data?
To regain syncing capabilities with external data sources, we recommend upgrading to one of Glide’s paid plans. Paid plans are specifically designed to handle the demands of external data syncing while offering additional benefits and enhanced features.
