What to do when connecting to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet requires admin approval

Updated over 2 months ago

If you try attaching a Microsoft Office 365 Excel spreadsheet to your Glide app and receive the message, Need admin approval, there are three options to consider.

Example message:

Configuring Consent and Permissions

Have an Office 365 administrator navigate to Admin->Identity->Applications->Enterprise applications->Consent and Permissions.

Configuring User consent settings

Under User content settings there are three choices:

  1. Do not allow user consent - Most secure, but it requires an organization Admin to approve all third party app integrations when Glide tries to connect with an Excel spreadsheet.

  2. Allow user consent for apps from verified publishes, for selected permissions - When users try to connect with a spreadsheet, they're presented with the option to request access from the admin.

  3. Alow user consent for apps - this is the easiest option for your users, but the least secure. Any user within your organization can integrate Glide with your organizations spreadsheets without approval.

Configuring Admin consent settings

If option #2 is chosen, navigate to Admin consent settings, as well, and enable Users can request admin consent to apps they are unable to consent to.
