Classic App Deprecation
Classic App Deprecation

Details on Glide's Classic app deprecation and migrating to the new platform.

Updated this week

Classic apps are an older version of Glide apps. As part of our commitment to improving the platform and delivering enhanced features, we have planned the deprecation of classic apps to focus exclusively on the new app experience. Below is a detailed breakdown of the current status, next steps, and recommended actions:

Latest Status

  • Creation: No new classic apps can be created.

  • Duplication: Classic apps cannot be duplicated.

  • Transfers: Transferring classic apps to other teams is no longer allowed.

  • Support: Targeted support for classic apps has ended, except for issues affecting all classic apps.

Next Plan

  • Deprecation: All classic apps will be fully deprecated and no longer supported.

  • Migration Tools: The engineering team is actively working on migration tools to assist users, but there is no estimated time for completion.

What to Do?

We strongly recommend migrating to the new app format as soon as possible. The deprecation of classic apps may impact your business operations, and transitioning early ensures you can take full advantage of the many features available in the new app format that are not supported in classic apps.

How to Migrate?

  1. Navigate to the classic app in your dashboard.

  2. Click on the three-dot menu next to the classic app.

  3. Select New App from Data.

    • This will copy your database, including all basic columns.

    • Note: Layouts and computed columns will not be automatically migrated.

  4. Reconstruct your app layout and rebuild any necessary computed columns in the new app format.
