SharePoint Integration: Supported and Unsupported Site Types

This article explains which types of SharePoint and OneDrive accounts are supported.

Updated over a month ago

The Excel document integration supports access to files and data from specific types of Microsoft storage environments. To ensure a smooth experience, please review the supported and unsupported configurations below.

Supported: OneDrive and Group-Connected SharePoint Sites

  • OneDrive (Personal or Business)
You can connect either a personal Microsoft account (e.g., @outlook.com) or a work account tied to Microsoft 365. Both types are supported for accessing files stored in OneDrive.

  • Microsoft 365 Group-Connected SharePoint Sites
These are SharePoint sites automatically created when a Microsoft 365 Group is formed. They provide collaborative file storage and are commonly used in Outlook groups or Microsoft Planner.

Not Supported: Teams-Connected SharePoint Sites

SharePoint sites created when you set up a Microsoft Team—often called Teams-connected sites—are not supported.

  • These sites are tied directly to the structure of the team and may include private or shared channel folders.

  • They often have a more complex hierarchy and permission model than standard Group sites.

  • As a result, our integration does not currently support accessing data from these types of SharePoint sites.
