How to Change the Currency for Payments

Stripe payment currency

Updated over a month ago

If you're looking to change the currency for payments processed through Stripe, here’s how it works and what to expect.

Supported Currencies

Stripe supports processing payments in over 135 currencies. This makes it easy for businesses to handle international transactions and for users to pay in their local currency. Stripe automatically converts these payments to your account’s default settlement currency at the current exchange rate, helping to shield your earnings from currency fluctuations.

How It Works

  1. Automatic Conversion: Stripe processes payments in the currency your customer pays in, then converts it to your default currency when settling the amount. This exchange rate is applied at the time of the charge, providing a straightforward way to manage different currencies without manually handling conversions.

  2. Purchasing Plans in Your Currency: If you’re purchasing a plan, simply enter your card details. Stripe will automatically detect and process the transaction in your local currency.

Stripe takes care of the heavy lifting when it comes to currency conversions, making it easy to conduct transactions in multiple currencies with ease!
